Colonel Steven Robertson received his commission in Military Intelligence (MI) in 1993 from Michigan State University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). He initially served with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, and later with 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After leaving active duty he held various positions in the California National Guard and the Army Reserve. He served with the 250th MI Battalion as Counterintelligence Company Commander, and later, as Plans Officer with duty in Iraq 2004-2005. During his second tour in Iraq, 2011, he served as the Senior Intelligence Advisor to the Iraq Counterterrorism Command G2 (Intelligence) with the Joint Forces Special Operations Component Command – Iraq. He has served as the Analysis and Control Element (ACE) Chief for the 368th MI Battalion. He has commanded the 314th MI Battalion, Detachment 2, 2400 MI Group, 373rd MI Battalion, and the National Intelligence Support Group. He also served in Kuwait and Qatar as the Deputy J5 Plans for the Special Operations Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve, the Military Intelligence Readiness Command G-7 (Training), and the Chief of Staff of the Pacific Division, 84th Training Command.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with two stars, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), and he is a recipient of the Military Intelligence Corps Association Knowlton Award and he is joint officer qualified.
COL Robertson’s military schools include the U.S. Army MI Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Counterintelligence Officer Course, US Army Command and General Staff College, Nuclear and Counterproliferation Officer Course, the U.S. Army War College, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan State University, a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
COL Robertson resides in Petaluma, CA where he is the Director of Supply Chain and Logistics at Tibit Communications.
COL Robertson is married to the former Maria-Antonia Varela. They have 3 children, Ariana, Miguel, and Anamaria.
